Comedian, writer and broadcaster Susan Calman is heading back out on the road for the first time in ten years with her brand-new live show, Tall Tales. Touring extensively across the UK from September to November 2026, Susan returns to the stage with a joyful, whip-smart and wonderfully unhinged evening of stories, silliness and surprise. Tickets will be available at 10am on Friday here.
A decade older - though she insists not necessarily wiser - Susan has amassed a remarkable number of improbable adventures since her last tour. Tall Tales dives headfirst into the most unbelievable highlights: from cruising the world to driving tanks, from her enduring love of cats to the trials and triumphs of getting older.
You may have seen her on television or heard her on the radio, but the best way to experience Susan is live on stage - where her warmth, razor-sharp wit and unexpected dance moves truly shine. And yes, she warns audiences in advance: you still won’t believe how short she really is.
Prepare for an evening of astounding anecdotes, laughter, and a few moments that may stretch the boundaries of believability (and rhythm).
Susan said today: “It’s been ten whole years since I last headed out on tour, and I couldn’t be more excited to get back on the road. I’ve collected so many ridiculous and unbelievable stories over the last decade that it feels only right to share them in person - preferably while dancing badly. I can’t wait to see everyone across the UK again and have a joyful, hilarious time together.”
Susan Calman began her professional life as a corporate lawyer, working everywhere from Death Row in the United States to the United Nations in Geneva, and even managing the vacuum cleaner and microwave department of an electrical superstore. In 2006, she left a promising legal career to pursue comedy full-time. She quickly made her mark, reaching the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards and So You Think You’re Funny, and becoming a finalist in the Funny Women competition that same year.
In 2007, Susan was cast in the Edinburgh Fringe sell-out sketch show Ugly Kid, which earned critical acclaim and became a Channel 4 pilot under the new title Blowout. The cast went on to win a Scottish BAFTA.
Susan is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4, having appeared on The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, The Now Show, Dilemma, So Wrong It’s Right, and Woman’s Hour. She has written and recorded two series of her own sitcom, along with five solo series, including the recent Susan Calman Makes Me Happy. Her podcast Mrs Brightside - exploring mental health with humour and honesty - is now in its second series.
On television, Susan has appeared on QI, Have I Got News For You, and Mock the Week, and has acted in shows such as Home from Home and Fresh Meat. She has hosted several programmes, including The Boss, Armchair Detectives—for which she won her second Scottish BAFTA—and the CBBC quiz show Top Class. In 2017, she reached week ten of Strictly Come Dancing, delighting audiences, and later won the 2018 Strictly Live Tour with partner Kevin Clifton.
Her travel and adventure series have become audience favourites, with three series of Secret Scotland (2018–2020), followed by Grand Day Out on Channel 5 (2021–). A new cruising series is also on the way. Susan is a regular host of BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay celebrations and writes a monthly column for Good Housekeeping.
Susan lives in Glasgow with her wife and their six beloved cats.
