Tributes have been paid to Ted, the dog from Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing. He was around 13 years old. He was a patterdale terrier mix and was rescued from a dog's home in Surrey in 2013 and lived with Lisa Clark, the programme's executive producer.
Ted was such a star he even wrote his own book, A Pawtobiography. Buy a copy here. He also wrote Pup Fiction and a third book will be out later this year.
Bob Mortimer paid tribute to Ted: “So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much.. and away boss.”
Paul Whitehouse joined in: “Bye bye Ted old friend. He wasn’t a dog, he was a species all of his own. He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you mate.”
Lisa Clark said: “Ted was a much-loved family pet as well as a treasured companion to Paul and Bob on Gone Fishing. He took fame in his little stride and loved nothing better than messing around on the riverbanks, nicking jammy dodgers from Bob and bait from Paul. He will be sorely missed both at home and on screen. We’ll never forget him. He is survived at home by Bo the Briard.”
Mollie Goodfellow wrote on blue sky: "Ted the Dog from Gone Fishing has died, so I’m telling my secretary to cancel the rest of my day"
Simon Tucker added: "Sad to hear that Ted from Gone Fishing has passed. What a real character he was."
Julian Shea wrote: "RIP Ted the Gone Fishing dog. Wiv de angles, rather than the anglers, now. It was an honour to meet him and shake his paw at a book signing last Christmas."
Lizzie Roper wrote on Ted's Facebook account: "Oh im so very sad to hear this. Thank you so much for sharing your Ted with us. It's been a joy to watch him over the years. much love xxx"
