Is Josh Widdicombe going to be the next co-host of Strictly Come Dancing?
The Sun has reported that the stand-up is set to sign a lucrative contract making him the new host of the primetime shiny floor show alongside Emma Willis, while Johannes Radabe is set to be 'roving reporter'. This follows the joint departure of previous hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
Widdicombe does have history with the programme of course. He appeared in the Christmas edition in 2024.
At the time he said: “I am utterly terrified this will end in humiliation and worried I’m going to be so bad I will ruin Christmas for the nation. Why have I done this?”
A source told the tabloid that the co-presenter of C4's The Last Leg impressed the judges at an audition: “Josh has been offered the job alongside Emma, and it’s his for the taking. He entered the running a little later than the others, but he nailed the chemistry tests."
The unnamed source added: "He’s also quick-witted, kooky, awkward and funny. He can bring the comedy they need like Claudia Winkleman."
The rumour also gave the newspaper a chance to do some name-related wordplay, with the headline of 'Widdi Combe Dancing'.
The 43-year-old stand-up and co-host of hit podcast Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett is currently on the road with his Not My Cup Of Tea tour. Tickets here.
