TriForce Productions has announced that the record-breaking comedy panel show, Sorry I Didn’t Know, has been recommissioned by ITV for a seventh series, 10 years on from its first outing on TV.
Originally commissioned in 2016 as part of ITV’s Black History Month programming, 10 years on Sorry I Didn’t Know is now part of comedy panel show lore, once again breaking its own record as the longest running show by a Black-led production company and now breaking the series record set by classic sitcom Desmond’s, and The Real McCoy, for longest running Black-led comedy series on TV*.
The critically acclaimed and twice RTS nominated series focused on Black history, (which is also everyone’s history), will air later this year on ITV1 and ITVX having become a firm fixture in the TV calendar and a popular fan favourite, earning its rightful place in the pantheon of British comedy panel shows.
Returning to the hot seat as host is Chizzy Akudolu, who will be keeping competitive team captains, Eddie Kadi and Richard Blackwood in line. Richard, who joined the show last year, will once again go head-to-head with Eddie, his long-time friend and compadre. The questions will be more intriguing, the answers even more outrageous and the competition and unity more finely balanced than ever.
Filming will take place this summer and will once again feature a roster of brilliant comedic talent, who will join the roll call from previous season’s guests which includes Adjoa Andoh, Susan Wokoma, Munya Chawawa, Stephen K Amos, Marcus Brigstocke, Angellica Bell, Richie Anderson, Oti Mabuse, Jordan Stephens, JB Gill, Babatunde Aléshé, Colin Jackson, Seann Walshe and Jamelia – to name but a few.

The seventh series of the ground-breaking hit entertainment format was commissioned by Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV, Katie Rawcliffe and Entertainment Commissioner ITV, Gemma John-Lewis. It will be Exec Produced for TriForce Productions by Fraser Ayres, Minnie Ayres and Jimmy Akingbola. The Series Editor is Delia Williams.
Sorry I Didn’t Know will be filming in front of a live studio audience in London this summer.
*Desmond’s ran for six series on Channel 4 between 1989 – 1994 with a total of 71 episodes. The Real McCoy ran on BBC Two between 1991 and 1996 for five series and a special ‘Best of’ clip series, with a total of 34 episodes. With this seventh series commission, Sorry I Didn’t Know has now surpassed that six series marker set by both classic series.
