Comedian Mike Newall has been discharged from hospital and has thanked his fans, friends and family for their support after he suffered a brain haemorrhage while on holiday in Wales in August.

Newall, who appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2020, has posted the following on Instagram:

"I don’t know how to begin to thank everyone for the love and support I have received during the last few weeks.

Being in hospital was tough going but knowing I had people thinking of me, checking in, sending messages really helped me through it. I was so overwhelmed at times.

My family, you’re all incredible.

My wife, you are unbelievably strong and brave. You held it together, was by my side, kept our home and children going, and somehow found the time and strength to keep everyone updated throughout.
You’re a superhero, and I’m so proud of you.

The generosity of my comedy friends and colleagues is something I can never repay but will never forget. I honestly don’t know what I would have done. It’s given me the opportunity to recover fully without any stress. I was in bits when I found out. What a beautiful thing.

I feel incredibly blessed to have such genuine and caring people around me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you and thanks again.

This is me today feeling thankful to be home with my family, recovering gradually and slowly weaning myself off cake and custard that I had with every meal in hospital. Xxx"
