Highly respected comedy promoter Darrell Martin has won the Forth Fringe Award with Watermans at the Forth Fringe Awards 2026.
The awards recognise people in Edinburgh and the East of Scotland and although Martin is not Scottish he has lived in Edinburgh since 2019 and is one of the main promoters of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, running the Just The Tonic venues. He also runs successful clubs and comedy events in England, mainly in the Midlands.
2026 was Just the Tonic's 22nd year at the Fringe and its biggest year yet, presenting more than 230 shows across 19 performance spaces and six venues. In that time he has helped to launch the careers of future comedy stars including Romesh Ranganathan, Johnny Vegas and Sarah Millican and even gave Ricky Gervais his first paid 10 minute spot. More recently he has staged sold out runs for acts such as John Robins and Scottish comedians Daniel Sloss, Connor Burns and reunited The Comic Strip.
