Coldplay's Chris Martin has been in the recording studio with Ricky Gervais.

They have been recording music for the soundtrack album that will accompany Life on the Road, the David Brent movie that is due for release next summer.

Writing on Twitter, Gervais said "Still buzzing from our first studio session this week recording the David Brent soundtrack album. Too much fun."

The film sees Brent having one last attempt at rock stardom, financing a tour of his band. Co-stars include comedian Doc Brown.

Chris Martin previously appeared with Gervais in the BBC sitcom Extras when he sent up the process of recording a charity single and joked that stars only did things like that to raise their profile.
