News: Comedy Magician Nails It

Kyle Wallace

Update 8/11: The nail was removed yesterday. At 4.08pm Kyle Wallace posted the following on Facebook: "It's out, so am I. At home now. Bandaged and enjoying a decent coffee. A day and a half with this sticking out of my hand is one if the weirdest experiences of my life...and I've done some weird shit in my time. Thanks for all the messages. I hope you'll not be put out by me not answering them individually, but I'm a leftie for a few weeks now."

Update 7/11: Wallace posted various Facebook updates yesterday during the day, including an x-ray of his hand just to prove the injury was genuine, but by Friday evening the nail had still not been removed.

Comedian and magician Kyle Wallace was involved in a painful accident when a trick did not go quite as planned.

Wallace was compering at the G&B comedy club in West Ham on Thursday night. After the interval he came on and did the classic trick of slamming down his hand on a table where some six inch nails are concealed. The idea is to miss the spikes but on this occasion Wallace found himself with a nail piercing his right hand.

He went to Newham Hospital to have the nail removed and has been good humoured about the incident. The next morning he posted the following on Facebook – presumably with his left hand: “I’m still in hospital and Andrew is still with me (it's been nailing me now for 11 hours solid, so it only seemed right to give him a name). I'm going down to theatre shortly to have it removed. And yes, its friggin agony. But upside is every nurse who asked for a selfie with me has promised to come down to the club and I gave out a load of G&B flyers.

Sorry to the acts that went on after me. I appreciate that was a tough set to follow. Will let you know how it goes once I've been to theatre. Thanks for all the messages.”

Wallace was previously mainly a magician, but in recent years he has concentrated on jokes and storytelling with occasional tricks. There may be even less tricks in future.
