Voting is currently underway for the UK Circuit Comedian Awards. There are three awards – Comedian's comedian, best MC and an award for outstanding 30+ years continuous circuit work.
Last year's Circuit Comedian winner Gavin Webster (pictured) is organising the vote, which ends at midnight on 23rd December, with the winner announced shortly after. Webster says that the voting is very close at the moment so is keen for any comedians out there to exercise their democratic right. You can DM him but it's best to email him on [email protected].
Any comedians reading this can vote for whoever they want but Webster has suggested that the following are the current front runners.
In no particular order the comedians comedian award has 24 comics who have a realistic chance of winning, these are Carey Marx, Dan Nightingale, Jeff Innocent, Seymour Mace, Andy Askins, Zoe Lyons, Daliso Chaponda, Gary Delaney, Tom Stade, Jarred Christmas, Mike Wilmot, Geoff Norcott, Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue, Michael Legge, Rob Rouse, Markus Birdman, Jo Caulfied, Adam Bloom, Mark Nelson, Roger Monkhouse, Gary Little, Pete Johansson and Mike Gunn.
The MC award is incredibly close and the 17 front runners are (not in any order) Dan Nightingale, Danny Mcloughlin, Mark Olver, Matt Reed, Jim Smallman, Roger Monkhouse, Joe Heenan, Jonathon Mayor, Phil Ellis, Ian Moore, JoJo Smith, Mick Ferry, Stephen Grant, Mandy Knight, John Fothergill and Sally-Anne Hayward.
And finally the 30+ years award is pretty much a 6 way fight between John Moloney, Norman Lovett, Fred McCauley, Stu Who, Otiz Cannelloni and Pierre Hollins.
Webster has noted that some contenders are Canadian and New Zealanders but they are regulars on the UK circuit and Webster says that "if they win fair and square good on them."
