News: Coogan & Brydon Take Trip To Spain & Sky

Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan are going to do a third series of acclaimed series The Trip.

This time they will be visiting Spain and will be making the programme for Sky Atlantic. Michael Winterbottom will once again direct and filming will start in the autumn.

The Trip to Spain sees Steve and Rob’s fictionalised characters back on their culinary quest as they head off on a road trip from the North Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast for a fresh helping of gastronomic adventures. Filming later this year, The Trip to Spain is a journey of food, fun, frivolity and plenty of impersonations.

Steve and Rob are going to be bringing the laughs while tucking into tasty dishes in six stunning Spanish locales, from Cantabria, to the Basque region, Aragon, Rioja, Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia.

Coogan said: “Having thought long and hard about yet another sojourn into culinary distractions and middle age, I have reluctantly agreed to Eviva Espana. I have a hole in my diary, there will be free food and accommodation and Rob Brydon is surprisingly good company. I also like Michael.”

Rob Brydon said: "I'm looking forward to reuniting with Steve and Michael for The Trip to Spain."

Michael Winterbottom said: "It has been more than three years since the last Trip, and travelling with Rob and Steve is always enjoyable - so it seemed like a good idea to go on another journey together - before they get too old."

Zai Bennett, Director of Sky Atlantic, said: “The Trip is as close to perfection as you get in comedy. It's a rare chance to watch comic masters, totally authoring their work with creative freedom. It's an absolutely perfect fit for Sky Atlantic. We are very happy to ensure that this award-winning comedy will continue building on the channel’s relationships with Steve, Rob and Revolution Films showcasing our continued investment in top-flight original comedy.”

Series two of Alan Partridge’s Mid Morning Matters will begin tomorrow night on Sky Atlantic at 10pm.
