Irish comedian/actor Deirdre O’Kane is returning to the stage in London after a seven-year break from stand-up during which she had babies, made a movie in Vietnam and became the mother in Moone Boy.
In her new show 1Dee she wonders what she has learnt from being a stay at home mum, reaching middle-age and chasing after collagen as it attempts to leave her life forever?
O'Kane has become best known in recent years as matriarch Debra Moone in award winning series Moone Boy.
On returning to stand-up she says “there must be a part of me that likes the danger of putting yourself on the line like that. When you've worked hard at something, that skill is still in you, and it’s like getting back on a bike."
Previous feature film credits include the BAFTA winning Festival for Channel 4, Intermission directed by John Crowley for Parallel Fims, Killing Bono directed by Nick Hamm for Cinema Three and Dollhouse, directed by Kirsten Sheridan for Factory Films.
O'Kane is at the Soho Theatre on March 18 & 19. Tickets and info here.
