Comic actor Roy Barraclough has died. He was 81.

The Preston-born performer was best known in later years as Alec Gilroy in Coronation Street, but before then he was famous as half of gossiping double act Cissie And Ada. Barraclough played the more refined Cissie. Watch a clip below.

As well as working regularly with Les Dawson, Barraclough appeared in Last of the Summer Wine, Pardon My Genie and numerous other classic TV series. He most recently played Mr Grainger in last year's BBC reboot of Are You Being Served?
