Stars from the showbusiness world have paid tribute to Ronnie Corbett at a memorial service at Westminster Abbey.
The much-loved entertainer died on March 31 last year at the age of 85.
Speaking outside the Abbey Rob Brydon said “he wasn’t that different really off screeen. He was warm, generous, just a lovely man.”
Joanna Lumley, David Walliams, Su Pollard, Graham Norton, Jimmy Tarbuck and Stephen Fry were also among the audience of 2000. And at the front of the Abbey was Corbett’s famous comfy armchair, symbols of his great success, while four candles were carried down the aisle.
Joanna Lumley, who delivered a reading, said "The Two Ronnies were as good as it gets. They were at the top of the tree. They always left me in stitches and gasps of admiration." Michael Parkinson and Rob Brydon also spoke. Brydon, who was visibly moved, did his famous Ronnie Corbett impression.
Also present alongside fans who had applied for tickets were Ben Elton, Julian Clary, Michael Crawford, Dame Penelope Keith, Graham Norton, Barry Cryer and Dame Barbara Windsor.
