
Children's presenter Brian Cant has died. He was 83.
Cant will be remembered by a generation for presenting BBC's Play School and Play Away. He also appeared on Jackanory and Dappledown Farm and did voices for Trumpton, Camberwick Green and Chigley.
His agent said he died at Denville Hall, a retirement home often used by those in the entertainment industry.
His family has issued a statement: "He lived courageously with Parkinson's disease for a long time."
Tributes have come in on social media from friends, colleagues and fans. Tony Robinson wrote: "Brian Cant was my mentor & friend on Playaway.We wrote and performed together for two years.Always patient,courteous, & funny P-L-A-Y R-I-P"
Mark Gatiss tweeted: "Ah, Brian Cant. The voice and face of a gentler age. "Time flies by..." RIP"
Limmy posted: "Had the pleasure of meeting Brian Cant at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny."
