Tonight's Foster's So You Think You're Funny? Final at The Gilded Balloon was the tightest competition in recent years. After much heated deliberation (I was the lone male on the judging panel) the joint winners out of a field of nine were Edd Hedges from Saffron Walden, Essex and Demi Lardner from Australia, who qualified for the SYTYF semi-final earlier in the Edinburgh Festival by winning the RAW competition at the Melbourne Comedy Festuval earlier this year. Both are 19 years old, but that is where the similarity ends. Hedges is a bearded man mountain, the tiny Lardner could pass for a 13-year-old boy. The winners share first prize of £5000 and second prize of £2000. Third prize of £1000 went to Laura Mclenaghan. Full review of the final to follow...
