Preview: Objectively Funny Festival

If you missed the Edinburgh Fringe this year and are London-based help is at hand. The first ever Objectively Funny Festival which runs from September 16 - 26 at the Albany in Great Portland Street in central London will be presenting some of the best shows from the Scottish capital.

There are back-to-back daytime gigs at the weekend as well as your usual evening gigs, so the whole event, the brainchild of Martin Willis of sketch duo Loose Brie, and billed as "dumb jokes for smart people and clever comedy for idiots" ought to have a real Fringe-comes-south vibe. Tickets are cheap too, with the fest running a pay-what-you-want system (plus £1 t get into the venue) for some shows.

Among the acts appearing at the Objectively Funny Festival are a number of shows that picked up lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Award nominations. Elf Lyons and Jordan Brookes both appear on Saturday, September 16 while Lucy Pearman is on Sunday, Sept 24. Other acts that are highly recommended are Phil Kay, Tez Ilyas and Joseph Morpurgo, who are all half of double bills on Sept 18, 19 & 20 respectively.
