ITV has commissioned a second series of the Jack Dee comedy Bad Move. It will return with six brand new episodes in 2018.
Written by Jack Dee, Pete Sinclair and produced by Open Mike Productions , 'Bad Move' stars Jack Dee as Steve and Kerry Godliman as his wife Nicky who play a married couple both on their second marriages and have decided that moving to the countryside from the city is the answer to all their dreams.
Joining Jack and Kerry and returning for series two will be neighbours Matt (Miles Jupp) and Meena (Manjinder Virk), local rock star Grizzo (Seann Walsh), father in-law Ken (Philip Jackson) and Shannon (Sue Vincent) - the local shopkeeper.
With the first series airing at 8pm on Wednesday nights, 'Bad Move' proved to be a ratings success for the channel with an impressive audience of 4.3 million (22% share) for episode 1 with a consolidated figure of 4.9 million. This made it the highest viewed comedy show on television that week. Overall, the series averaged over 4 million viewers per episode.
Jack Dee said: “I’m naturally delighted that I’ll be working again with the brilliant Bad Move cast. The show has clearly struck a chord with a great many viewers and we are very much looking forward to dumping more country life problems on Nicky and Steve in series 2.”
ITV’s Comedy Commissioner Saskia Schuster added “The charms of country life will no doubt continue to elude Steve and Nicky, as their rural domesticity brings increasing aggravation and tribulation. We'll be seeing a lot more of Steve's unguarded responses to daily small scale irritations, which will of course escalate to become his and Nicky's undoing. Will he never learn?”
Open Mike Productions MD Andrew Beint said “We can't wait to see what happens to Steve and Nicky in series 2 and are thrilled once again to be working alongside the brilliant writing talents of Jack and Pete and everyone in the ITV comedy team". askia Schuster, written by Jack Dee and Pete Sinclair and produced by Open Mike Productions with Andrew Beint executive producing.
Filmed in the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors, Bad Move is a family comedy set in the most stunning countryside location, where their nearest neighbours Matt (Miles Jupp) and Meena (Manjinder Virk) annoyingly make it all look so easy. Other villagers include Grizzo (Seann Walsh) - a rock star that needs village life to keep him grounded, Ken (Philip Jackson) - Steve’s no-nonsense disapproving father in-law, and Shannon (Sue Vincent) - the local shopkeeper
