News: Scottish Comedy Awards – Nominations Revealed

BBC Scotland sitcoms Two Doors Down and Scot Squad lead the nominations for the 2018 Scottish Comedy Awards. Both are nominated for Best TV Show, Two Doors Down has 2 nominations in the Best Actor category;  Elaine C Smith  & Doon Mackichan, whilst Scot Squad has 3 nominations;  Jack Doherty, Jim Smith and last year’s winner Chris Forbes, who is aiming for a hat trick of wins. The writers of Two Doors Down; Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle also receive a nomination.
 
America’s Got Talent finalist Colin Cloud receives 2 nominations for Best Tour Show and Best Variety act, a category that includes Donald Trump impersonator Lewis Mcleod and The Dolls aka Gayle Telfer Stevens and Louise McCarthy.
 
BBC News at 3’s Isla Nelson was the big winner last year. This year her dad Mark Nelson is again nominated in the Best Headliner category alongside Raymond Mearns, Susie McCabe and Scott Agnew.

Love Island’s Iain Stirling is nominated for Best TV/Radio comedian alongside Des Clarke, Fern Brady, Frankie Boyle and Larry Dean, proving what an exceptionally high quality pool of comedy talent Scotland is producing

In a slight change of format the two venue categories are now split between Best Comedy Club and Best Comedy Night.
