Russell Brand's wife has dubbed him "Wedding Scrooge" after he had misgivings about the royal wedding.

Talking on C4's Sunday Brunch Brand explained that he watched the wedding and enjoyed some aspects of it but had misgivings about other wider ramifications of the monarchy. He told the presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer that because of this his wife Laura Gallacher had described him as "Wedding Scrooge."

Brand also recalled that he had crossed paths with Meghan Markle in the past. The Duchess of Sussex appeared in his film Get Him To The Greek, but it was a fleeting meeting.

The comedian also revealed that his mother was making a good recovery following her recent serious injury in a car accident.
