Fenella Fielding has died, aged 90.
The film star best known for her roles in various Carry On films is reported to have suffered a stroke.
Fielding had a wide and varied career but is probably best known as Valeria in Carry On Screaming (watch clip). She also appeared in Carry On Regardless in 1961.
She appeared in Morecambe & Wise Christmas specials and could be seen regularly in serious roles in the theatre. She also appeared in Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson's movie Guest House Paradiso and played an eccentric granny in C4's Skins.
She had been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in June. Her death follows the death of another British comedy film icon, Liz Fraser, last week.
