Comedian and best-selling author Adam Kay is to bring his latest live show to the Eventim Apollo. He will be appearing there on November 18.
Kay's book This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor has been number one in the UK book charts for five months, selling over 700,000 copies. It has been translated into 25 languages, achieved number one status in numerous countries, and has won multiple awards including iBooks book of the year, Esquire book of the year and Sunday Times humour book of the year. BBC Two have recently announced the book will be turned into a major new comedy drama series.
The live show of his diaries has sold out a major nationwide tour, a West End season, and the largest venue at the Edinburgh Fringe. This is Going to Hurt is a love letter to the NHS, and now he would like to say a huge thank-you to all NHS staff and medical students by offering them 50% off all tickets to the biggest show of his career.
The guest support act will be award-winning comedian and star of Taskmaster, Mark Watson, who Adam also owes a big thank you: two years ago, Mark brought along his publisher to see Adam reading from his diaries in Edinburgh and so began the most remarkable publishing phenomenon of recent years.
Adam Kay says, “The NHS isn’t a collection of buildings – it’s the million and a half wonderful people who work there – and they need a laugh more than ever. Non-medics welcome too: in fact, it’ll be the safest place in London to get ill. ”
