Following two sell-out runs at the Soho Theatre last year, Ireland's rap scalliwags The Rubberbandits don their plastic shopping bags and return to the scene of their rhymes in a few weeks with the world premiere of their new show, Continental Fistfight. They are at the Soho Theatre from January 30 to February 22 and tickets can be bought here. Although it is a new show I suspect Dave Chambers (Blindboy Boatclub) and Bob McGlynn (Mr Chrome) might smuggle in a few of their old hits by popular demand, such as the celtic tiger-mocking Horse Outside or the exquisitely politically incorrect Black Man.
If you haven't encountered the scrawny, sweaty yet strangely compelling duo here's a review of their last Soho show to give you a taste of what they are all about. And if you don't have time to read the review here's a scary new video below from them, Dad's Best Friend, in which they nail the grim, miserable lifestyle of the alienated salary man who snorts cocaine, watches porn in the shed and wants to take your dad to Amsterdam for a stag weekend. It is also notable for arguably being the first-ever rap to rhyme "Joop" with "croup". Don't have nightmares.
