Tributes have been paid to London-based talent agent Janie Jenkins, who died suddenly on October 29, aged 55. 

Her funeral was on Thursday at the West Herts Crematorium. A number of Janie's clients were comedians as well as actors and were in attendance. Those present included Jason Forbes from sketch trio Daphne and The Mash Report, Liam Hourican (Murder In Successville), William Andrews, Helen Cripps, Thom Tuck, Greg Haiste, Thomas Nelstrop and Richard Glover.

After a number of different jobs including working in the costume department at the Cockpit Theatre and also acting herself, Janie became an agent, working for companies including PBJ Management and Mike Leigh Associates before setting up independently.

Those she worked with have spoken movingly about how much care she took with them. After the funeral Greg Haiste said: "One thing I loved about Janie is how proud she was of all her clients, you'd hear how over the moon she'd be about somebody brilliantly landing something amazing and that enthusiasm was really infectious, made us feel like one big happy band. Seeng all those people there yesterday really brought that home. She was tirelessly loyal and hardworking, for which I'm immensely thankful, and such a genuinely great pal too, often made us properly guffaw with some crazy tale or other. We will miss her greatly. It felt much more than just professional stuff really, always there in times of need, asking after family health and so on."

Others posted messages on Facebook. Jason Forbes wrote: "Thank you for kick-starting my career and being there at every crisis of confidence, believing when I didn’t believe, not faltering when I faltered. “Onwards,” as Janie would say. Rest in peace x"

Liam Hourican wrote: "She was one in a million. Rest in peace dear Janie x"

I knew Janie myself for over twenty years and whatever she did she gave it 100%. When she became an agent and we met up she would always sing the praises of her clients. But this wasn't just an agent thinking about the next commission they were hoping to earn, she clearly really cared about them as people and always wanted to do the best for them. She did things that were way above and beyond the call of duty and combined her professional commitments with regularly spending time with her parents. Her death, from a sudden heart attack, was a complete shock to everyone who knew her. I'd spent time with her in Edinburgh in August and only a couple of weeks before she died chatted to her on the phone during the interval at Katherine Ryan's Garrick Theatre show, when she talked as enthusiastically as ever about upcoming plans. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
