The stars of pioneering BBC comedy The Day Today have reunited to mark their twenty-fifth anniversary.

Sadly it was for a dinner rather than to record a new programme. Armando Iannucci, Steve Coogan, Chris Morris, Rebecca Front, Doon MacKichan, Peter Baynham, David Schneider and Patrick Marber gathered together for the first time in many years.

David Schneider tweeted: "The Day Today, 25th anniversary dinner. We’ve lost the news."

Rebecca Front tweeted: "25 years on and we all finally made it round the same dinner table. Mostly we talked about kids and reading glasses...#thedaytoday"

Iannucci hashtagged it: "#SilverNews"

Richard Herring and Stewart Lee worked on the BBC Radio version On The Hour which pre-dated The Day Today. Herring tweeted: "Me and Stew were there for the starters but then had to leave… only joshing. Congratulations to these ground-breaking geniuses - incredible talent."
