The first ever Brighton Comedy Garden will take place this summer with five nights of stand-up comedy presented in a boutique festival in the glorious surroundings of Preston Park from 19 - 23 June.
Comedy luminaries such as Alan Davies, multi-award winning Live At The Apollo star Sara Pascoe, the hilariously surreal 8 Out Of 10 Cats team captain Sean Lock and host of Channel 4’s groundbreaking The Last Leg Adam Hills plus many more will be taking to the stage each night.
Tickets are on sale now with comedy-lovers from Brighton and beyond able to choose from a series of meticulously curated shows starring the likes of award-hoarder David O’Doherty, riotously funny Tom Allen, The Mash Report’s viral sensation Rachel Parris, observational maestro Ed Byrne, laugh-masters Stephen K Amos and Henning When, star of Would I Lie To You. There’s also alt-comedy heroes like Rose d’Or winner Bridget Christie and Alan Partridge’s side-kick Tim Key plus exciting breakthrough talent including Edinburgh Comedy Award champ Rose Matafeo, Taskmaster’s Phil Wang and the brilliantly mischievous Rosie Jones.
These star-studded shows take place inside a giant Big Top tent set in a boutique festival bursting with a delicious range of street-food traders, bars serving craft beer, summer-inspired cocktails and lots more besides, all on the leafy lawns of Preston Park overlooking the thumping heart of Brighton.
This comedy extravaganza is the latest venture from sibling team Will Briggs and Cass Randolph who are behind two hugely popular comedy events: Greenwich Comedy Festival (Time Out’s ‘favourite London comedy festival’) and their equally lauded Bristol Comedy Garden.
Will and Cass grew up steeped in alternative comedy thanks to their notorious stepfather, Malcolm Hardee, the infamous comedy promoter and exhibitionist. With their production outfit, 57 Festivals, Will and Cass have spent the past decade delivering consistently superb line-ups and good times in London and Bristol, and are now looking forward to bringing this new comedy spectacular to Brighton.
“We’ve always had Brighton in mind as a dream location for what we do and now, with our events in Greenwich and Bristol hitting their stride, we feel it’s the right time to bring Brighton a piece of the action.” says co-producer Cass Randolph.
“Brighton is famous for its vibrant arts and festivals scene, and we hope to add even more quality to that. Perhaps now more than ever it’s good to be reminded of the absurdity and humour in life and our acts have some of the most brilliantly absurd minds in the country.”
