Comedian Ariane Sherine In Further Two-Book Deal With Robinson

Robinson Psychology, part of the Little, Brown Book Group, has acquired two further titles – How to Live to 100 and Happier - by writer, comedian and journalist Ariane Sherine.

Sherine is on a quest to live a long and healthy life, and is working with David Conrad, a Consultant in Public Health, to provide "a funny and scientific exploration of 100 factors which affect life expectancy" in How to Live to 100. The title will follow Sherine’s journey to become a healthier person, examining the evidence for everything from drinking green tea to having regular sex, and will provide recommendations on lifestyle changes that could lead to longevity.

Along the way, Sherine will interview celebrity friends including Clive Anderson, Charlie Brooker, Josie Long, Robin Ince, Robert Llewellyn, Arthur Smith, Jon Holmes and Angela Saini about different ways to live to 100.

The second title acquired by Robinson, Happier, will also be co-written with Conrad, and will have a similar format, exploring many different factors which affect happiness and wellbeing.

How to Live to 100 will be Sherine’s first book since October 2018’s Robinson title Talk Yourself Better. She is best known for the Atheist Bus Campaign, a famous advertising campaign funded by the public that put her slogan "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life" on 800 buses UK-wide.

Editorial Director Andrew McAleer acquired world rights to the titles from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown, to publish in March 2020 and March 2021.

McAleer said: “It was a joy to work with Ariane on Talk Yourself Better and she really opened up the bewildering world of mental health support in a humorous and frank way, encouraging so many well-known contributors to be upfront about their own experiences of therapy. These next two books will continue to make the world a sunnier place, cutting through all the contradictory nonsense we hear about health and happiness.”

Sherine said: "I’m so excited to be working with Andrew again, and to be staying in the wonderful Little, Brown family. It’s a lot of fun working with David on How to Live to 100 – though it’s going to be very embarrassing when I drop dead aged 42.”
