National digital radio station Union JACK has commissioned a third series of Geoff Lloyd’s Hometown Glory; a unique, comedic interview series that sees acclaimed broadcaster Lloyd take a number of famous faces on a trip down memory lane, through the assistance of Google Maps.
Series three kicks off at 11am this Saturday 25 May, with the first interview featuring comedian Ed Gamble, who reveals some hilarious tales of his youth and early years growing up in Southwest London. The show will then run for six consecutive weeks, with other interviews also confirmed with singer and 1980s teen idol Paul Young; comedian and actor Tom Rosenthal, son of TV sports presenter Jim Rosenthal, and perhaps best-known for his roles in ITV’s Plebs and Channel 4’sFriday Night Dinner; and celebrated broadcaster and writer Iain Lee, whose credits include The 11 O’Clock Show on Channel 4, and RI:SE, along with multiple radio roles.
In addition to the radio show, each interview will be further available to listen to as a podcast.
Giles Gear, Programme Manager at Union JACK Radio, said: “Geoff Lloyd is King of Podcasting, and it was a no-brainer to commission series three of his show – listeners love the insight into guests’ up-bringing and the streets they grew up on. This series continues Union JACK’s charge to be the home of Great British comedy.”
Union JACK launched just over two years ago, challenging the status quo with its disruptive format of radio, which see the station operate without a DJ at the helm and with every song on air voted for by listeners on the Union JACK app, which has seen almost 20 million song votes cast to date. Its comedy offering includes Underdogs, an award-winning new music show hosted by someone who knows nothing about music, and Josh Berry’s Fake News, an impressions-sketch show, as well as its recent support of the Leicester Comedy Festival, broadcasting some of the show’s greatest moments on the radio for the first time.
Union JACK is available across the UK on digital radio, online at unionjack.co.uk and via the Union JACK app.
