Gavin Mitchell, the actor best known for playing Boaby the Barman in the long-running Scottish sitcom Still Game, is to receive a Doctor of Letters from Glasgow Caledonian University. The award is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the television and media industry, together with his commitment to charitable causes and support of the University’s MA TV Fiction Writing students.
During the University’s summer graduations on July 2, 3 and 4, GCU is awarding a total of seven honorary degrees in recognition of achievements and contributions across a range of backgrounds. They also include Donalda MacKinnon, Director of BBC Scotland and entrepreneur Jo Malone.
The honorary guests will join 5,000 students graduating from Glasgow School forBusiness and Society, the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment and the School of Health and Life Sciences, at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
