Actor Rutger Hauer has died. He was 75.
While he was not primarily known as a comedy actor one of the star's most recent roles was in the Dave comedy Porters, which was set in a hospital.
The Blade Runner star played Tillman, a porter and former golfing prodigy who teaches newbie Simon (Ed Easton) about the ways of the hospital, manhood, karma, and most importantly, love.
At the time of his casting writer Dan Sefton said, “I’m astonished and honoured that a genuine movie legend has agreed to take part in a sitcom written by an idiot. None of us are worthy, especially me. It’s quite surreal but utterly amazing to go from watching someone on screen as a kid, to chatting about your script with them in Costa Coffee.”
Hauer himself said: "My job is hilarious mostly. In the characters I'm offered I tend to act wicked or wacky. Being a clown is my middle name. The writing on Porters got me. Silly, crazy, fast. I giggled and screamed while reading the (first scripts). Then, Vadim Jean, the director, we Skyped! The rest followed. There was never any doubt I should do this."
