A spoof clip inspired by recent home-based interviewees who have been interrupted by family members mid-sentence on air has gone viral and fooled many into thinking it is genuine.

In the clip Ivor Baddiel - the brother of David Baddiel and a comedy writer in his own right – is seen being interviewed by BBC News at home when a young man wanders in by mistake. Baddiel turns round and starts swearing at the young man – presumably his son - before resuming his mild-mannered interview.

The clip, juxtaposing real BBC News footage with his spoof interview, is captioned: "Adorable moment man interrupted by his son on live TV"

Some people, however, did not seem to get the joke. Daily Express columnist Carole Malone seemed to think it was real and tweeted: "I can’t believe this.....Did he think broadcasting would suspended while he swore at his son". And some of her followers seemed to concur with her.

One comment chastised Baddiel for swearing: "What a way to speak to your son, on or off camera."

Another tweeted: "Someone who should never be on TV, what a way to speak to anyone especially to his son! I hope his son can forgive him, I’m appalled!"
