Comedian Sean McLoughlin is to release his critically acclaimed stand-up show Hail Mary on YouTube.
From a starting point of his 30th birthday the show branches out into explorations of big tech, love and religion while maintaining the fast-paced, punchy, gag-filled stand-up he’s known for.
The human race is at a crossroads: On one path lies the future, with its twitchy technology and mega-corporations who know us better than we know ourselves; on the other lies the past and all the conflict and mystery that entails. And in the middle stands McLoughlin, the unlikely everyman, trying to plot a course for both himself and mankind. Now 30, all Sean wants is to walk into the sunset with the love of his life and his head held high, but before that there’s some scabs in his past he’ll have to pick. The battle for happiness will be won, but there will be casualties...
Originally performed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2018 where it garnered rave reviews and sold-out audiences for its entire run, Hail Mary went on to tour around the globe with dates in New York, Sydney and across Europe as well as a full UK tour. The show has also been adapted into a keynote speech for a number of high-profile technology conferences including E-Day in Amsterdam where it was performed directly after a speech from the Vice-President of Amazon.
The recording took place at the Top Secret Comedy Club in London and will soon be released as an album by 800lb Gorilla Records, becoming McLoughlin’s second U.S. release. He has also appeared and written on multiple television shows and opened for Bill Burr at the Royal Albert Hall. He supported Ricky Gervais on tour and played a stand-up comedian in the first series of After Life. Other TV credits include ITVs Stand Up Sketch Show, Comedy Central Live At The Comedy Store and a starring role in Brexit Stage Left for Viceland.
Hail Mary is out at midnight on Friday June 19 here.
