Arthur Smith will not be daunted by the cancellation of the biggest arts festival in the world this summer. He has been hosting his legendary late-night tours of the Royal Mile on the fringe since 1977 and at this, his 43rd festival, he will return with a socially distanced walking tour of Edinburgh full of laughs, poetry and surprises. AKA a piece of radical, site–specific, outdoor promenade performance art. And probably the only show on the fringe!
Telling the story of this great city and its festivals, the show will begin in the Pleasance Courtyard and proceed into New Arthur Place and on up to the view of Salisbury Crags. Audiences are encouraged to wear suitably eccentric P.P.E.
Arthur will be performing these events in daylight for the first time since 1985. Whilst no less anarchic, but in a break with the past, they will be family friendly and there will almost certainly be no arrests, nudity or swearing. But on August 15th he will be performing a special late-night version where you can absolutely guarantee at least one of three listed above will occur [age restriction 18+].
Previous tours have included surprise celebrity guests Steve Coogan (as Sean Connery), Simon Munnery, Lucy Porter, Mike McShane, Shappi Khorsandi and Jonathan Ross.
