There has been a bit of a trend for shows about David v Goliath battles with corporations in recent years. Tom Wrigglesworth did a show about his confrontation with Virgin Trains, while Patrick Combs got into hot water with authority when he managed to bank a $95,000 junk mail cheque. Dave Griffiths’ C U In Court sounds like it falls into this Kafkaesque genre too. When Griffiths wore a T-shirt that said “CNUT” alongside the words ‘French Correction' he came into conflict with a clothing brand that also happened to have a slogan that jumbles up the letters of a rude word. A comedian could not possibly let this one go, so Griffiths took them on and, of course, got a show out of it, which premiered in Edinburgh last year. He returns to Scotland again this year, but first has a preview at Rise tonight with Mark Dolan, which is being filmed for a documentary.
Dave Griffiths is at The Three Sisters, August 9 - 16. Details here.
