Comedian Frank Skinner is set to co-present a documentary about literary figures James Boswell & Samuel Johnson.
Boswell & Johnson’s Scottish Road Trip follows Frank Skinner and best-selling novelist Denise Mina as they recreate Samuel Johnson and James Boswell’s famous 1773 Grand Tour of Scotland. The trip will tap into Skinner and Mina’s longtime fascination with Johnson and Boswell, respectively.
They will travel around the coast of Scotland via carriages, horses and boats in keeping with the 18th-century voyage.
Skinner is not the first comedian to tell this story. In 2007 Simon Munnery played Johnson to Miles Jupp's Boswell onstage in Late But Live, which was directed by Stewart Lee.
Boswell & Johnson’s Scottish Road Trip will be on Sky Arts from October 6 at 9pm. The channel is currently free to air.
