Video: Roy Castle, Buddy Rich & Surprise Guest On Parkinson

After actor Michael Warburton tweeted a clip of drummer Buddy Rich, Roy Castle and Sammy Davis Junior on BBC chat show Parkinson in 1982 I enjoyed it and retweeted it and didn't think any more of it.

It was only when I looked at Twitter later that I saw that Roy Castle and even another guest on the show, Kenny Everett were trending.

For those that don't know Roy Castle, or only know him for his long-running kids show Record Breakers, he was a classic all-round entertainer, appearing in movies and touring regularly. He died in 1994.

One of the highlights of the clip is Hollywood legend Sammy Davis Junior coming onstage to join them, which was genuinely unexpected. After the clip appeared Roy's son Ben tweeted an explanation for his father's improvised routine: "Love this clip. Dad was told to distract Buddy while they waited for Sammy to arrive and this happened. It was live television and completely improvised."

Ben Castle later added: "I cannot believe dad is trending on Twitter! Thank you for your wonderful comments, they've been an absolute joy to read. I'm going to have to tear myself away now as his one year old granddaughter will be delighting me with her singing and tap dancing in a few hours."

Here is the full interview below. The real magic kicks in at around 6:50.
