Comedians James Acaster, Lou Sanders, Phil Wang and Sally Phillips will team up to take part in a live game of Dungeons & Dragons on Friday 4 December at 7.30pm to raise money for Comic Relief. 
 
Hosted by Comic Relief and Wizards of the Coast, the creators of the storytelling game, ‘Comic Relief plays Dungeons & Dragons: Episode 2’ will bring together some of the country’s most popular comedians and invite the public to get involved by helping to shape the story by casting votes on crucial elements of the fantasy battle.  
 
Dungeons & Dragons is a roleplaying game and pop culture staple that allows participants to become fantasy heroes such as wizards and rogues and delve into an imaginary world where anything is possible. Dungeon Master Paul Foxcroft will guide players and viewers through the action, setting goals to accomplish and offering rewards along the way. 
 
For a minimum donation of a pound, the public will also be able to have a say in the comedian’s gaming decisions – throwing twists and turns for them to overcome by taking part in three polls. Viewers can vote from today at www.comicrelief.com/dnd on which comedian will fall victim to a curse, what monster they want players to battle and what magic item will help them in their quest. 
 
Viewers can expect to see the comedians playing online from their respective homes and playing as a team to complete the fantasy quest. There will be lots of comedy moments thrown into the game and viewers will be entertained by watching all the live action unravel in real time. 
 
Sally Phillips said: “I may never have played Dungeons and Dragons before but reckon I’d be better suited to life in the Forgotten Realms, as I have always felt that I might change into a woodland creature at any moment. So I can’t believe I will be anything other than epic in this game! We continue living through such strange times so I hope we can provide some entertainment and laughs for those watching the stream from home while raising funds for Comic Relief.” 
 
James Acaster said: “I’m a huge gamer and I have no doubt this will be an EPIC game to watch. Mixed with the unknown twists and turns awaiting us from the public votes, who knows how this will turn out but I bet it will be a good laugh for those watching and will hopefully bring in lots of donations for Comic Relief.”

The first Comic Relief plays Dungeons & Dragons live game took place earlier this year in May with comedians Sue Perkins, Nish Kumar, Sara Pascoe and Ed Gamble and raised over £25,000 for Comic Relief. As seen in the game’s trailer, James Acaster also made a guest appearance in the first episode to decide the fate of his comedic pals.
