After a popular first series (reaching #1 in the Apple Podcasts Science chart for Great Britain), Jon Richardson is back with renowned futurists Mark Stevenson and Ed Gillespie – aka the Futurenauts – for a second run of the podcast.
Episode 1 is out now, and it features Kate Raworth (author of Doughnut Economics) discussing Economics with the team.
If you were lucky enough to catch their first outing, you’ll know that the show offers weekly investigations into the world’s most pressing issues – and in doing so also brings some answers as to how we can save the future. It’s all done, of course, with an intellectual prowess and dogged open-mindedness that’s quickly becoming the Futurenauts’ trademark – accompanied by some devilish wit and fine humour (and this isn’t just the forte of resident stand-up Jon Richardson).
So, what to expect from this coming series? Well besides economics, sex (with Jon’s wife Lucy Beaumont and Cindy Gallop – founder of MakeLoveNotPorn), the future of alcohol, cancer, protest, and much much more will be discussed by our intrepid explorers over the course of the series. Each episode finds the crew joined by a world-renowned expert in their respective fields, allowing everyone to dig even deeper into a veritable smörgåsbord of fascinating topics.
Released every Wednesday, each episode is an engrossing, funny and accessible conversation from the intrepid trio and their guests. Listener Manda Brookman probably sums it up best: “Transgressive, eye-smackingly honest, cringingly truthful, dangerously imaginative, insanely common-sensical: if I was in a pub lock-in, it would be with these 3 blokes. I might even buy the 1st round.”

TED curator Chris Anderson says of Stevenson: “He wears no blindfold. His tools are curiosity, open-mindedness, clarity and reason.”
He is the bestselling and award-winning author of An Optimist’s Tour of the Future and We Do Things Differently: The Outsiders Rebooting Our World. Despite this, his parents still have no idea what he does.
