Amused moose
The final has taken place today of the Amused Moose National New Comic Award at The Space @ Symposium Hall in Edinburgh.
Nine finalists made it from 500+ initial entries. They were Helen Duff, Huge Davies, Jack Gleadow, Joseph Emslie, Michael Clarke, Olga Koch, Rob Oldham, Rosie Jones and Sam Whyte.
The winner was Jack Gleadow, who recently won the New Comedian Of the Year Final at the Great Yorkshire Fringe.
The finalists have been announced for Amused Moose Comedy’s National New Comic Award.
Nine finalists eventually won through four rounds during the past few months, from 500+ initial entries. They are Helen Duff, Huge Davies, Jack Gleadow, Joseph Emslie, Michael Clarke, Olga Koch, Rob Oldham, Rosie Jones, and Sam Whyte.
The winner will appear in the Amused Moose Comedy Awards showcases at Soho Theatre on Monday 16 October.
Entry is now open for the Amused Moose Comedy Award 2016. The competition, now in its sixth year, searches for the best comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from as yet undiscovered talent.
The winner will join previous winners, who include Tony Law, Marcel Lucont, Celia Pacquola, Jess Robinson and last year's winner Richard Gadd (pictured with co-star Ben Target) and will receive a shiny Moose trophy and a London showcase.
The Amused Moose Laugh Off Final has a pretty good track record at discovering future stars. Previous winners include Sarah Millican and Jack Whitehall. Everyone has their say in the vote – from audience members to industry representatives.
The balcony at the Hippodrome was crammed with agents, journalists and movers and shakers. Interestingly we weren’t asked to pick the best act, we were asked to pick the one we thought would be a star. A subtle difference to me, but let’s leave that aside for now. Or maybe not.
UK-based Malaysian stand-up Nigel Ng is the winner of this year's Amused Moose Laugh Off Final that took place at the Hippodrome in London.
He came out on top in a final that featured seven male comedians.
KG Tha Comedian was voted People's Champion in the public vote.
The seven finalists were Jake Lambert, Radu Isac, Henry Maynard, KG Tha Comedian, Mike Cox, AJ Roberts and Nigel Ng.
The Amused Moose Laugh Off contest is now open for online entries. Previous winners have included Sarah Millican, Jack Whitehall and Rob Beckett.
Entries, in the form of a 90-second performance clip filmed in a comedy venue, must be submitted online by the end of January. They will then be viewed and scored online by comedy industry panellists around the world.
The line-up has been announced for this year's final of the Amused Moose Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe. The final takes place on Sunday, August 23 at the Space @ Symposium Hall at 1.15pm. Tickets here. There are ten acts competing for the prestigious prize, which has previously been won by Tony Law, Marcel Lucont and last year by Celia Pacquola.

The third Amused Moose Laughter Awards, supported by 2entertain, launches today. The London club will be searching for the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the winner will receive £5000 towards the development of their comedy career, a commercial standard promotional DVD filmed at the Soho Theatre, a potential DVD deal, extensive promotional and development opportunities and a trophy.
