News: Bafta TV Awards – Two Wins For Stath Lets Flats, Wins For Taskmaster, Mo Gilligan, Gavin & Stacey

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the winners of the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards, celebrating and rewarding the very best programmes and performances of 2019. The Awards were hosted by Richard Ayoade on a closed set at Television Centre, London, with presenters including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jeff Goldblum, Jessica Hynes, Adrian Lester, Ruth Madeley, Himesh Patel, Billy Porter and Nina Sosanya.

This year's Bafta TV awards nominations have been announced and there are nods for a number of current comedy favourites.

The nominations for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme are GBEMISOLA IKUMELO in Famalam, PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE in Fleabag, SARAH KENDALL in Frayed and SIAN CLIFFORD in Fleabag.

The nominations for Male Performance in a Comedy Programme are GUZ KHAN in Man Like Mobeen, JAMIE DEMETRIOU in Stath Lets Flats, NCUTI GATWA in Sex Education and  YOUSSEF KERKOUR in Home.

News: Bafta TV Awards – All The Winners As They Are Announced

The BAFTA TV Awards are taking place with a lot of top comedy names in the running for honours. Here are the winners as and when they are announced.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott prsented the award for Best Mini-Series. And the winner is Patrick Melrose, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

The second award, for Best Comedy Entertainent Programme, was presented by David Schwimmer and went to Sky's A League of Their Own.

Best Supporting Actor went to Ben Whishaw for his performance in A Very British Scandal.

The Bafta Television Awards have taken place in London at a ceremony hosted by Sue Perkins.

The comedy-related winners are below.

Best Entertainment Programme went to Britain's Got Talent.

Best Female Performance In A Comedy Programme was won by Daisy May Cooper for This Country. Greg Davies presented the award.

Graham Norton won Best Entertainment Performance.

Best Male Performance In A Comedy Programme was won by Toby Jones for Detectorists.

News: Bafta Nominations For Death of Stalin & Paddington 2. Joanna Lumley To Host.

The Death of Stalin and Paddington 2 have both picked up nominations for Bafta Awards in the shortlist announced today.

Armando Iannucci's Soviet satire is up for or Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding British Film. Paddington 2 is in contention for the same awards and also a third  – Hugh Grant is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

It has also been announced today that Joanna Lumley will be hosting the awards for the first time following the announcement that Stephen Fry will not be hosting them this year.

News Bafta Craft Award For Mum Writer

Stefan Golazsweski has won the British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Writer: Comedy for his work on BBC sitcom Mum, starring Lesley Manville and Peter Mullan.

The other nominees in the category were Phoebe Waller-Bridge for Fleabag (of course), Steve Coogan, Neil & Rob Gibbons for Alan Partridge's Scissored Isle and Julia Davis for Camping.

The star of Catastrophe is nominated for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme alongside Miranda Hart, Sian Gibson and Michaela Coel. Peter Kay is nominated for Male Performance alongside Hugh Bonneville, Javone Prince and Toby Jones.
