Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse have written a book inspired by their BBC2 series Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing.
The book, which has the same title as the BBC2 series, was published by Blink Publishing on May 30. In it the two comedy greats "talk life, friendship and the joys of fishing." The comedians are also currently working on a second series which will be broadcast in summer 2019.
John Sullivan’s iconic and record-breaking television series has been turned into a brand-new, home-grown West End musical spectacular. With a script and original score by John’s son, Jim Sullivan and comedian Paul Whitehouse, prepare to get reacquainted with Britain’s most loveable rogues and experience the classic comedy brought to life once again through 20 ingenious and hilarious songs.
Let's be honest about this. If Gone Fishing did not feature comedy titans Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse it would probably not be going out on BBC2 on a Wednesday evening. In fact if it was made at all without them it would be lucky to get an airing on – insert obscure digital channel name here – in the afternoon. The languid pace, the beautiful scenery, two elderly men discussing their heart operations. This is afternoon telly catnip. Not so much The Fast Show as The Extremely Slow Show.
The UK’s most fantabulous DJ and one half of everyone’s favourite fab radio duo, Mike Smash (Paul Whitehouse) takes time out from his charity work and returns to TV screens this Christmas with his ding-dong-merrily-on-high-iest festive favourite tunes. Smashie's Xmastastic Playlist is a new UKTV Original that will air across two days in December 2017.
Two places will be available on the six-month scheme which gives participants an unrivalled insight into comedy production, where they can develop their skills and help shape the future of comedy production, whether in the BBC or elsewhere in the wider broadcasting industry.
Principal photography has started on Ghost Stories, the film based on the original Olivier nominated stage production. The film is co-written and directed by Jeremy Dyson (writer The League of Gentlemen, Psychobitches) and Andy Nyman (The Commuter, Severance) who co-wrote and directed the original stage production.
A new interview with Fast Show creators Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse is to be made available via the BBC's new online shop, BBC Store. Fans will be able to see the interview, marking the show’s 21st birthday, free between midday and midnight this Sunday, November 15. After this time fans can purchase the interview, conducted by Danny Wallace.
Sir Lenny Henry, Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are among the comedians appearing at a one-off benefit gig to raise money to fight knife crime. The show, organised by educational organisation The Comedy School, takes place at the Eventim Apollo on October 11.
Now this was an odd programme. There’s having your cake and eating it and then there is this. A tribute hosted by the tributees that put the boot into the tributees at the same time, while finally concluding that they are almost godlike.
Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse have confirmed dates for a tour later this year. The Legends! tour starts at the Plymouth Pavilions on October 24 and ends at the Eventim Apollo in London on November 15, and now also just added, November 16.
