News: Global Catastrophe For Horgan and Delaney

Avalon Distribution has agreed multiple global sales of acclaimed comedy series Catastrophe. In an unprecedented marketing move, Amazon made the pilot episode available to a US audience via its Facebook page for 48 hours earlier this week where it was watched over three million times. Audiences in Norway, Belgium, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand, Iceland, The Netherlands, Finland and Luxembourg will all also now be able to watch the series.

Live Review: Rob Delaney, Bloomsbury Theatre

Rob Delaney’s latest show is called Meat. There is something perfect about the simple one-word title. Short and brutal and to the point. He also has a routine where he mentions meat, but that’s by the by. This is a show that strips the language of comedy right back to its raw, visceral basics. Yet at the same time it is one of the funniest, most sophisticated, jaw-snapping funny hours of humour you will see this year.

TV Preview: Catastrophe, C4

Channel 4’s new sitcom Catastrophe starts with a bang. Not the nuclear variety as in ITV2’s Cockroaches though. Here the bang is the sex between the two characters Sharon and Rob (Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney) who have just met in a bar. It’s a fast and furious shag and one of many that punctuates the hilarious first episode.

Preview: The Week Ahead April 8 - 14

I was a little worried when I heard that Harry Hill was going back on the road after eight years away. Would it be a case of a deluded boxer returning to the ring thinking he could still cut it? Would it be like Bjorn Borg making his comeback with an old wooden tennis racquet? I didn't need to worry. I saw Hill's Sausage Time spectacular – and spectacular is the only word for it – on its first night in London a few weeks ago and, if anything, the lunacy was sharper than ever.
