Laura Lexx
Taxi ride hailing service FREE NOW has announced four exclusive comedy gigs in London’s West End to celebrate the role of local comedy nights – and to highlight the need for audiences to support them.
Laura Lexx is to resume her natonal tour with a series of socially distanced gigs.
It’s been a busy lockdown for Lexx, who has seen her infamous Jürgen Klopp Twitter thread (5.6 million views, 55K likes and celebrity fans including Gary Lineker, Kathy Burke, Marian Keyes and Seth Meyers) now become a book – Klopp Actually .
A new virtual comedy festival has been announced that will feature some of the top names in comedy discussing and performing comedy.
British Comedy Guide’s Laughter Lounge Festival will feature two events per night, with a 7pm ‘behind the scenes’ style comedy panel, interview or Q&A with comedians; followed by a 9pm stand-up gig. All performed through the magic of Zoom and beamed directly into people’s homes.
Kate Hewson at Two Roads has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in award-winning comedian Laura Lexx’s imaginary diary of life married to Jürgen Klopp, Klopp Actually, as well as Pivot, a novel about an amateur women’s netball team, from Diana Beaumont at Marjacq in association with Andrew Roach Talent. Klopp Actually: (Imaginary) Life with Football's Most Sensible Heartthrob will publish in hardback, eBook and audio on September 3, 2020, with Pivot published in 2022.
Laura Lexx (Live at The Apollo, Roast Battle, Hypothetical and that recent viral Jürgen Klopp thread) has come up with a new way of completing her first book during the lockdown.
At times like this what we really need is a comedian fantasising about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. And that's just what we have got.
Brighton-based stand-up Laura Lexx tweeted the following: "If I ever met Jurgen Klopp I’d say “omg if we have a baby we should call it Klipp” just so he’d raise an eyebrow at me and tell me I’m a moron and I’d be so naked by the time he’d finished doing that."
And sure enough it went viral. In less than a day the tweet has received nearly a thousand retweets and nearly 30,000 likes.
In a competitive field Laura Lexx is rising quickly as one of the country’s brightest stand-ups. She’s appeared on Live At The Apollo on the BBC, The Jason Manford Show on Absolute Radio, and Roast Battle on Comedy Central, while also regularly hosting The Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra. Laura has a string of award wins to her name such as Best MC at the UK Comedy Awards 2017 and Best Performer in the Comedians’ Choice Awards for both 2018 and 2019.
After two sell-out Edinburgh shows in two years, star of Live At The Apollo and double winner of The Comedian’s Choice ‘Best Performer Award’, Laura Lexx is going on her first UK tour with Knee Jerk. The tour starts in Maidenhead on February 5. Click here for dates.
Submissions are now open for BBC Ouch’s fourth storytelling event hosted by Laura Lexx at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
