Daisy Haggard
On this week's show (Friday, 8th October), Graham welcomes Four Weddings star Andie MacDowell, Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer, award-winning singer and actor Billy Porter, actor and writer Daisy Haggard, and pop group Texas.
A comedian recently posted on social media that he had submitted a comedy script to a production company only to be told that while it was funny, it was not sad enough. Clearly this trend for 'sadcoms' – see also Aisling Bea's This Way Up, Sara Pascoe's Out Of Her Mind – sounds like it is not going to go away. And the second series of Back To Life, written by Daisy Haggard and Laura Solon, certainly fits into that template.
Daisy Haggard has started shooting series two of hit comedy Back to Life, with Meera Syal (The Split, The Kumars at No.42) and Adrian Edmondson (War & Peace, The Young Ones) added to the cast. The series will air on BBC Three and SHOWTIME later this year.
The series is produced by multi-award-winning production company, Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag, Baptiste, Liar, The Missing) in co-production with BBC Three and Showtime
Back to Life is not the first comedy about someone trying to get their act together after coming out of prison. I can just about remember Going Straight, the spin-off of Porridge in which Ronnie Barker's old lag tried to make it in the outside world. Back to Life is very different.
The cast for Daisy Haggard and Laura Solon’s forthcoming BBC Three series BACK TO LIFE has been confirmed with filming underway. Haggard plays the lead role of Miri Matteson alongside Geraldine James (Sherlock Holmes), Adeel Akhtar (Murdered By My Father), Richard Durden (Harlots), Jamie Michie (Game of Thrones), Liam Williams (Pls Like), Souad Faress (Bridget Jones’s Baby), Jo Martin (Been So Long), Christine Bottomley (The End of the F***ing World) and Frank Feys (A Perfect Day).
