Death Valley is billed as a new comedy in some BBC places and it is easy to see why, even though it is a one hour drama-length and in a drama slot. This light-hearted new Sunday night detective drama set in Wales starring Timothy Spall has lots of comic names beavering away in the background.

Written and created by Paul Doolan (Mammoth, Trollied) and set in Wales, comedy drama Death Valley follows the unlikely crime-solving partnership between eccentric national treasure John Chapel (Timothy Spall) a retired actor and star of hit fictional TV detective show Caesar and disarming Welsh detective sergeant Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth).

BBC Comedy and BBC Wales has commissioned a new comedy drama Death Valley (w/t), a murder mystery starring BAFTA winning Timothy Spall (The Sixth Commandment, Mr Turner) and Gwyneth Keyworth (Alex Rider, Hidden, Defending the Guilty), made by BBC Studios Comedy Productions for BBC Two, BBC One Wales and iPlayer.
