Richard Herring Appears On Sunday Brunch

Comedian Richard Herring is one of the guests on this week's edition of Sunday Brunch. The other guests are Roisin Murphy, Leona Lewis, Lolita Chakrabarti and Richard Hammond.

Herring will be known to comedy fans with a long memory for his TV shows with Stewart Lee in the 1990s. More recently, however, Herring has been something of a podcasting pioneer. His Leicester Square Theatre interviews, RHLSTP, have featured guests including Stephen Fry who talked frankly about suicide, Bob Mortimer, Stephen Merchant (a famously awkward interview) and Russell Brand.

He is not exactly Michael Parkinson, has a tendency to talk about himself a bit too much, but also puts the guests at their ease and they often open up about things they might not usually mention when they are on the promotional trail. Michael Parkinson never asked guests if they would rather have a hand made of ham or an armpit that dispenses sun cream.

Herring is currently taking his interviews on tour around the UK and will be interviewing different guests wherever he goes. You can find out his dates here. This week on October 30 he is back in London to interview Davina McCall and Tim Key. On november 6 he is back at the Leicester Square Theatre to interview Joe Wilkinson and Julia Sawalha, which should be interesting as they previously dated – Sawalha that is, not Wilkinson. A previous edition featured another former girlfriend, comedian and actor Sally Phillips. On November 13 he is interviewing  Ross Noble and Jon Ronson.

He will also be known to Taskmaster fans for his appearances on the show when he took on Daisy May Cooper and others and was victorious. He then went on to win the Taskmaster Champion of Champions show too. the only other comedian to win this is Josh Widdicombe.

Herring has also appeared frequently on various otyher quiz shows, sometimes winning, sometimes almost winning. He has appeared on Pointless Celebrities and Richard Osman's House of Games, where he took on Rachel Riley, farmer JB Gill and newscaster Katie Derham.

Sunday Brunch, Sunday, October 29, 9.30am. C4.
