Farah Sharp is one of the talented female Arab comedians taking part in a special comedy event at the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room on March 1.
This latest edition of Arabs Are Not Funny is part of Arab Women Artists Now – AWAN Festival 2024. The full line-up is Farah Sharp, Isabelle Farah, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Fathiya Saleh and Lama Alfard.
Isabelle Farah is British-Lebanese comedian, writer, and actor. She has appeared on the BBC and CBS. She has also worked in theatre all over the UK and in London’s West End. Fatiha El-Ghorri is a British-Moroccan writer, actor and regular on the UK comedy circuit. Her observational stand-up pulls apart and challenges Muslim stereotypes. She has appeared on TV shows including The Jonathan Ross Show and Russell Howard's Comedy Hour. Fathiya Saleh is a youth worker by day and comedian by night, a Muslim North-West London comic with Somali-Yemeni roots. Lama Alfard started doing stand up in Saudi Arabia and has opened for international comedians like Reggie Watts and Nemr Abou Nassar.
Arab Women Artists Now (AWAN) is the UK’s only contemporary multi-arts festival dedicated to showcasing Arab women’s artistic work, taking place each March, to coincide with International Women’s Day and celebrating and promoting high quality female artists from the Arab world and diaspora.
Farah Sharp is an English-Egyptian comedian based in London. She has performed around the UK as well as in Sydney, Australia. Her stand-up is a mix of quirky opinions and anecdotes, often based around her upbringing or relationships and what she has (or hasn’t!) learnt from them. Read a brand new interview with her below.
