Stewart Lee played a surprise gig last night - fronting a band.
Lee temporarily teamed up with The Girl With The Replaceable Head, who are currently on a short UK tour. The band features Lindy Morrison, a member of legendary Australian indie band The Go-Betweens, on drums.
Lee joined them on vocals on the Go-Betweens song Eight Pictures from the 1982 album Send Me A Lullaby.
There is no suggestion that Lee will be giving up his stand up career or that he is going through a mid-life crisis.
The gig was at The Waiting Room in London. The line-up also features Taffy Hughes from the band Hurrah and they did a mix of original songs, Go-Betweens songs and Hurrah songs.
A clip of part of his performance has been posted on X, formerly Twitter. You can watch it here.
Lee has a number of music connections and is a regular gig goer. He has reviewed albums for the Sunday Times and made King Rocker, the acclaimed film about The Nightingales, with director Michael Cumming. He also likes free jazz.
