Is this a clue to what happens in the final-ever episode of Inside No. 9 which airs on Wednesday, June 12 at 10pm on BBC Two?
Today's Cryptic Crossword in The Guardian has been set by Sphinx, which just happens to be the nickname used by Steve Pemberton when he sets crosswords.
This would not be the first time that the Guardian's crossword has been linked to the award-winning anthology series. The episode Riddle of the Sphinx also tied in with a Guardian crossword...
In 2017's The Riddle of the Sphinx, Pemberton played a devious Cambridge Academic and crossword compiler known as Sphinx. In the programme answers were filled in on a giant crossword grid in his study. Attentive Guardian crossword fans quickly noticed that the answers in the programme were the same as the answers to the Guardian’s crossword that day. Set by a new compiler called…Sphinx.
Could all the answers in this latest crossword be episode titles? Or names of characters? Or something else connected to the 55 episodes?
If anyone out there is better at Cryptic Crosswords than I am here is a link - have a go and let us know how you get on...
*update - if you don't mind spoilers someone on X has come up with answers to the clues...
