Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up show at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne this weekend was disrupted by a pro-Palestinian protest in the audience.
This is not the first time the 70-year-old comedian has had to deal with interruptions. There was also a heckler who interrupted his comedy show in Australia with pro-Palestinian chants on June 16 at the Qudos Bank Arena.
At the Rod Laver Arena Seinfeld took time out from his set to address the shouting directly, suggesting that they were both in the same business of trying to get people to "see things the way we see it", but that they had to choose the right place to do it: "Context is very important for your message." Seinfeld suggested that he wouldn't try to do his act at at Australian Rules rugby game or he would get "kicked out on my ass".
Seinfeld went on to joke about the pro-Palestinian's business plan, suggesting that maybe the organisers should rethink it as by buying tickets for his gig to protest they just "gave more money to a Jew", which is presumably not what they want to do.
