Richard Osman's House of Games this week features Nadia Jae, Tamzin Outhwaite and from two different generations of the comedy world, Nigel Planer and Steen Raskopoulos.
Comedy fans of a certain age will immediately recall Nigel Planer as Neil from The Young Ones. He's recently been back in the public eye again following the publication of his autobiography Young Once: A Life Less Heavy. He has certainly had an interesting life, with three marriages under his belt, he's been rich and poor and famous and not so famous. He does seem comfortable with his past though and is happy to talk about his time in the trailblazing sitcom with Rik Mayall, Ade Edmondson, Christopher Ryan and various other alternative comedy luminaries.
Planer's original double act partner was Peter Richardson. He also appeared in the Comic Strip films as well as the movie Yellowbeard and the drama Shine on Harvey Moon. If you go back further than The Young Ones though, Planer's first theatrical break was understudying David Essex as Che Guevara in the original West End run of Evita. Maybe life could have turtned out very differently.
Australian comedian Steen Raskopoulos will be known to fans of live comedy as a regular visitor to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He is now more UK-based and is married to fellow comedian Sara Pascoe. Raskopoulos has also done a fair bit of television, cropping up in shows including The Duchess with Katherine Ryan, Feel Good with Mae Martin and Top Coppers with John Kearns. More recently he appeared in the Australian version of The Office in which the gender of the boss was switched and the David Brent character was played by Felicity Ward.
